In Q2 2021, the top 5 health and fitness apps on the Android platform in Latin America showcased interesting trends in terms of weekly downloads, revenue, and active users. Using data from Sensor Tower, we provide an overview of the performance of these leading apps: Strava: Run, Bike, Hike, Calm - Sleep, Meditate, Relax, Freeletics: Fitness Workouts, Workout Planner Muscle Booster, and Meditopia: Sleep & Meditation.
Strava: Run, Bike, Hike saw a notable decline in both weekly downloads and active users throughout the quarter. Weekly downloads fell from approximately 94K at the end of March to around 45K by the end of June. Similarly, weekly active users decreased from about 1.28M to 1.08M in the same period. Despite the drop in user engagement, the app maintained relatively stable weekly revenue, peaking at around $27K in mid-April before ending the quarter at roughly $20K.
Calm - Sleep, Meditate, Relax demonstrated a fluctuating trend in weekly downloads, starting with approximately 88K at the end of March and peaking at 105K in late April, before settling at around 67K by the end of June. The app's weekly revenue showed a slight increase, starting at $13.8K and peaking at $17.3K in early May, before ending the quarter at $13.7K. Weekly active users remained relatively stable, fluctuating between 299K and 353K throughout the quarter.
Freeletics: Fitness Workouts experienced a varied performance in weekly downloads, beginning the quarter with roughly 23K downloads, dipping to around 10K in mid-April, and then peaking at 27K in late June. Revenue trends also showed fluctuations, starting at $16.2K, reaching a low of $10.7K in late May, and ending at $13.6K by the end of June. Weekly active users saw a decline from 178K at the end of March to about 131K by the end of June.
Workout Planner Muscle Booster had a highly variable download trend, starting with around 95K downloads at the end of March, peaking at 167K in early May, and ending the quarter with about 35K downloads. The app's weekly revenue followed a similar trend, starting at $10.1K, peaking at $18.3K in mid-May, and ending at $11.7K. Weekly active users saw a peak of 384K in early May before declining to 142K by the end of June.
Meditopia: Sleep & Meditation showed a steady decline in weekly downloads from approximately 106K at the end of March to around 45K by the end of June. Despite this, the app's weekly revenue remained relatively stable, fluctuating between $9.1K and $11.3K throughout the quarter. Weekly active users saw a decrease from about 511K at the end of March to around 397K by the end of June.
